Callback

By , About.com Guide

Definition:

Callback - Any way of informing a program of a condition. For example, an API may specify that closures be used as callbacks for conditions. The conditions may be any events, such as the push of a button, a timer, a variable being set to the a certain value, etc. When this condition is met, the callback is performed, and the program takes action.
