Using Strings

Strings are ordered sequences of characters. More simply, strings are variables that can store text. Any communication with users will almost certainly be done by using strings, either as they are displayed on a terminal or in a GUI application. For example, if your program requires a user to input his name, the sequence of characters that make up his name are a string and are stored as a variable. Next to numbers, the String is one of the most important and widely used type in Ruby.
