Markup Language

By , About.com Guide

Definition:

Markup Language: A markup language defines the structure and formatting of a document. These languages are usually only seen by content creators, but ordinary users may see them as bbcode on forums. The most common markup language on the web is HTML, but anything that is used to define the format of a document can be considered a markup language.
