Exceptions

Not everything goes right all of the time.  Maybe 99% of the time, but there will always be that one time that something goes wrong.  A router is down and you can't open a network socket to a remote host, or another program has accidentally deleted a file you need.  What do you do when something like this happens?  How do you even know it happened?

With exceptions, that's how.
