RailsConf 2009, the largest conference dedicated to Ruby on Rails, kicks off today in Las Vegas. The event is co-produced by O'Reilly Media, Inc. and Ruby Central, Inc. and is a full four days of presentations, talks and workshops all about Rails.
Of particular interest to many participants who have followed last week's hubbub (summed up nicely here by Martin Fowler) pertaining to Matt Aimonetti's controversial presentation at the Golden Gate Ruby Conference, is a discussion panel called "Women In Rails," which seeks to provide programmers with an opportunity to meet women of the Rails community and to explore ways to encourage more women to join the Rails community.
Of course, there are hundreds of other presentations of interest as well and if you're unable to be at RailsConf, you can at least follow the conference on Twitter to get some insight as to what's going on. There's also a dedicated hashtag (#railsconf) that will allow you to get a real time sense of how participants are enjoying the conference.
As for us, we'd love to hear from any attendees who are willing to share stories or impressions as they travel the RailsConf. Feel free to email us!
