With the economic downturn, many programmers are getting nervous about what the future holds in terms of employment. There's been speculation that Ruby and Ruby on Rails programmers have an advantage in these hard economic times, a thought that Darryl Taft of eWeek did a nice job of exploring is his article Can Ruby, Rails Make Developers Shine in a Downturn?

Certainly an expertise in a low-investment, open source language that is flying high in the Cloud may give you an advantage over other programmers, but the bottom line is you can't find a job if you don't know where to look.
