Guide Review: Practical Ruby Projects

Saturday August 9, 2008

Before buying this book, there's something you should know: Practical Ruby Projects: Ideas for the Eclectic Programmer is a misnomer. Well, the practical component at least; the eclectic programmer piece is true. The projects presented in this book are not practical at all. In fact, I often found myself questioning why Topher Cyll chose these projects at all.

Then it hit me! The projects themselves are completely irrelevant. What are the chances the author is going to choose the exact projects you're interested in? Next to none. It's not the projects that are important--it's the techniques used to implement the projects. Interested? So was I. Check out more in our Guide Review of Practical Ruby Projects.
