"Beginning Ruby" ebook is the $10 Deal of the Day
Peter Cooper over at RubyInside mentioned this morning that as part of their neweBook Deal of the Day, Apress is offering the ebook version of his book Beginning Ruby:From Novice to Professional for a mere $10 today. The catch is that at 11:59pm Pacific time tonight the offer expires and Apress will promote a new book at this price. To be completely honest, I haven't yet had a chance to look at the book, but the reviews over at DZone and SlashDot are extremely favorable.
Aside from the fact that finding any book for $10 is exciting to me, it's nice to see Ruby in the spotlight, as it were. Plus, the ebook doesn't have any DRM attached, which makes it easier to access. The reader's appeal of Beginning Ruby is not only that it really is a beginning introduction to Ruby, but that it's written by one of the more visible users of the language. In addition to running RubyInside, Cooper is also the developer of the Snippets repository, now owned by DZone.
In any case, if you're both an aspiring Ruby programmer and a bargain hunter, today's Apress eBook Deal of Day is worth checking out.
